Presented at the Naval Applications of Machine Learning (NAML) Conference, February 2025
The Noblis team is working with NOAA to develop a knowledge mesh for chemical and oil spill response in Chesapeake Bay, with the goal of enhancing data discoverability, accessibility, and interoperability across multiple disciplines. This effort is designed to support key personas, including emergency managers, urban planners, ecologists, and coastal scientists, by providing a structured and scalable approach to integrating and semantically enriching datasets, models, and tools. The knowledge mesh will allow for expanded geospatial and temporal insights into coastline disasters, with the potential for future scalability across additional regions and domains.
The approach links real-time observations, geospatial analytics, and predictive modeling to improve decision-making workflows. Anticipated outcomes include improved cross-agency collaboration, enhanced decision support for emergency response, and a reusable framework for broader agency applications.
