Noblis’ Jon Horin Named “Person of the Year” by Showcase Magazine

Horin recognized for exceptional contributions to the Danville, Va. Community

In 2011, Noblis brought our Center for Applied High Performance Computing (CAHPC) to a renovated tobacco processing building in Danville, Va., with the goal of showcasing the impact of expanding technology and education to revitalizing communities. This project required strong leadership by an individual dedicated to education, community, and a sense of serving the public good.

Jon Horin, a senior manager with over 30 years of experience in the chemical/hazardous waste remediation field, stepped up to the challenge and relocated to Danville from Northern Virginia to lead Noblis’ new Center. Since 2014, he has furthered the company’s mission to build a strong private-public partnership in Danville by spearheading many initiatives to expand education and technology in the city.

This December, Jon was named as one of Showcase Magazine’s 2017 “Community Person of the Year” honorees. Telly Tucker, a 2016 recipient of the honor and the Director of Economic Development for the City of Danville, nominated Jon as result of his commitment of “substantial time and resources to working with Danville Public Schools.”

Noblis is proud to share Jon’s integral role in the revitalization of the City of Danville, and his example of contribution and leadership. His efforts exemplify Noblis’ mission to do work “for the best of reasons.”
