In its ninth year, the International Podcar City Conference, held Nov. 4-6 in Mountain View, CA, focuses on podcars and automated transit networks in relation to mobility, energy, cityscape and livability. Organized by the Institute for Sustainable Transportation (IST) of Sweden and sister company International Institute of Sustainable Transportation (NIST) of California, held annually, gathers major industry stakeholders for conversation and innovation surrounding today’s major transportation issues. The 350+ audience was comprised of professionals, city & transit planners, consultants, architects, engineers, investors, developers and elected officials. Lesh participated in the “Future Transit Scenarios” plenary discussion, Thursday Nov. 5, on overcoming today’s mobility challenges and the potential growth and evolution that is impacting the transit industry, noting that “It is important to think about integration on several levels; data, institutional, and operational. At Noblis we help our clients design, scope and implement programs that work toward these goals.” In Lesh’s 20-years’ industry experience, he has served as Program Analyst and Specialist for the Federal Transit Authority’s (FTA) Innovative Safety, Resiliency and All-Hazards Emergency Response and Recovery Demonstrations Program as well as the Transit Investment for Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reduction (TIGGER) Program. Lesh currently serves as Senior Analyst in Noblis’ Transportation Systems Mission Area on a Technical Services Support Contract with the U.S. DOT’s ITS Joint Program Office (JPO). Lesh is widely considered a subject matter expert on public transportation operations, policy and planning, mobility management, on-demand transport, mobility systems and the shared economy.
